Oh my, now this is marvelous news.
Conor Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s son who dated Taylor Swift more than a decade ago, recently confirmed an engagement with his partner of two years, Brazilian singer Giulia Be.
Alongside some sweet photos of their special moment, the pair wrote in a joint Instagram post Aug. 13, “Easiest yes of all time!”
In one picture from the post, Conor, 30, and Giulia, 25, sport the biggest smiles as they wrap their arms around each other. And the pair even show off just how special the moment was for them in a video, which sees them surrounded by candles as they embrace, kiss each other and dance around.
“I literally can’t believe this,” Giulia says in the video. “I’m dreaming. This is a dream. I’m so happy.
To which Conor replies, “I love you so much, my potato.”
And the video also gives insight into the duo’s proposal—which Giulia reveals happened on an otherwise normal day.
“I love that we’re both sweaty and after work and gross and disgusting,” she gushed. “It’s perfect. I love you so much.”
Later, Giulia showed off her gold banded diamond for the camera, waving it and exclaiming, “Wooo!”
The engagement was just one recent milestone for the pair, as they also showed off matching tattoos in one of the post’s pictures—doodles of a heart with a sword through the middle, with Conor sporting black ink while Giulia sports hers in red.
Naturally, Conor—whose mom was the late Mary Kennedy—and Giulia’s loved ones, which include many of the Kennedy family, couldn’t contain their excitement in the comments.
Conor’s stepmom Cheryl Hines—who married RFK Jr. in 2014—was quick to offer a sweet note.
“Welcome to the family Giulia!!!!!!” she wrote. “We love you so much!!”
And Giulia couldn’t help but dote on her future in-laws, writing back, “I love you guys so much, so, so so happy to join.”
Meanwhile, Conor’s cousin Patrick Schwarzenegger—his mom Maria Shriver and RFK Jr. are first cousins—kept his message simple with a red heart emoji alongside “Congrats brother.”
And while Conor’s 2012 summer romance with Taylor—who has been dating Travis Kelce for about a year—was legendary, the duo have begun again and again. After all, prior to his relationship with Giulia, Conor dated model Ava Dash in 2021, while Taylor was in a six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn and had a brief fling with Matty Healy prior to meeting her current guy on the Chiefs.
All of this to say, as they are both loved up, Taylor and Conor are never, ever getting back together. Even so, Taylor did get at least one great song out of the experience. Indeed, her Red track “Starlight” is inspired by Conor’s grandparents, Ethel Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.
“I came across this picture of these two kids dancing at a dance,” she explained to the Wall Street Journal of the song’s inspiration in 2012. “It immediately made me think of how much fun they must have had that night. It was back in the late '40s and they were, like, 17.”
As she explained, “I just kind of wrote that song from that place, not really knowing how they met or anything like that.”
